DC Alumni Chapter Sponsors Scholarship Fundraisers!

Two successful fund raisers to benefit the Johnson C. Smith University Alumni Scholarship fund were
recently held by the DC Alumni Chapter:
On April 25th, 2009 we sponsored a profitable Casino Bus Trip to Harrington Casino in Harrington, Delaware.
It was a sold out and fun filled trip ! This has become a popular annual event.
On June 12th, 2009 the 7th Annual Johnson C. Smith University Alumni Golf Tournament was held at the
beautiful and challenging Marlborough Country Club located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The tournament received good
participation and great weather for a profitable and enjoyable day of golf, fellowship and lunch. Over the years, these
successful tournaments have provided more than $14,000 in scholarship assistance.

Next Chapter Meeting: The Alumni Chapter is now on summer vacation and our next meeting will be
on September 12th, 2009. Stay tuned for the announcement on the place and time. Have a great summer
!! The Chapter enjoyed its annual end of fiscal year meeting in June at the home of Ms. Fannye Corley.
Annual Fish Fry: The annual Fish Fry will be held in late July or early August at the home of
the Chapter's President (Robert "Philly" Ridley). Please check back in the next couple of weeks for updates !

JCSU REPEATS AS 2009 CIAA CHAMPIONS
|
Charlotte, NC - Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) completed a memorable evening (Saturday February
28th, 2009) for the University by becoming the first school to win the men's and women's CIAA basketball championships in
the same year since 1996.
The JCSU men's basketball team seized their second consecutive CIAA championship by defeating Virginia Union University
70-63 before an overflow crowd.
The JCSU women beat Bowie State, 49-36 earlier in the evening. A fantastic day for the Golden Bulls and their fans!!
